ANALYTICAL
SYSTEMS: POLYMER LABORATORIES
Polymer
Laboratories offers its PL-ELS
1000 Evaporative Light Scattering (ELS) Detector for HPLC and LC-MS
analysis.
Since
the PL-ELS 1000 does not depend of UV detection, any compound can
be detected whether it contains a chromophore moiety or not. The
PL-ELS 1000 can be used alone or in combination with other type
of detectors (UV, Mass Spec, etc.).
The
PL-ELS 1000 can be programmed and controlled from either a PC or
an IR-based remote control that is mounted on the front of the instrument.
The
PL-ELS 1000 operates based on 3 processes:
- Nebulization
of the sample using an inert gas to form uniform droplets.
- Evaporation
of the eluent to form a fine cloud of particles.
- Optical
detection of the particles when disrupting a laser beam.
Since
the PL-ELS 1000 can be used with high-throughput LC and LC-MS systems
it can aid in the analysis of libraries from combinatorial chemistry.
|
It
is worth mentioning that the PL-ELS 1000 is a sample-destructive
analytical method and that to be used with an LC/MS systems
they both must use volatile eluent(s).
