HIGH-THROUGHPUT
EVAPORATORS: THERMO SAVANT
Thermo
Savant, formerly Savant Instruments
and now a
division of Thermo
Electron Corporation, offers
its line of Speedvacs® for centrifugal evaporation.
The
models Savant offers are:
Savant
has different rotors for high-throughput evaporation:
- The
MPTR8-210
rotor for up to 4 deepwell plates
- The
PRO10
and PRO20
to accommodate up to 4 and 8 deepwell plates (respectively).
For
combinatorial chemistry applications and high-throughput solvent
evaporation Savant offers 3 SpeedVac® DDA systems:
- The
AES2050DDA SpeedVac® DDA system.
- The
UCS250DDA SpeedVac® DDA system.
- The
Universal SS620DDA SpeedVac® DDA system.
These
systems can resist evaporation of corrosive solvent mixtures such
as methylene chloride (DCM) and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) as well
as evaporation of high boiling solvents such as dimethylformamide
(DMF) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). These systems provide the flexibility
to accommodate 4 block holders or "swings" for vials and tubes,
up to 8 deep-well plates, or up to 20 microtiter plates. Some
features that these systems offer are: built-in lamps for heating
to accelarate evaporation rates, heated cover to prevent solvent
condensation, and teflon® coated materials to add resistance
to corrosive solvents.
