MICROWAVE SYSTEMS: CEM CORPORATION

CEM Corporation offers a comprehensive line of microwave-based systems for combinatorial synthesis, parallel synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and scale-up synthesis.

MARS-S

For combinatorial and parallel synthesis CEM offers the MARS-S microwave synthesis workstation. This workstation can support many synthesis research needs with a broad throughput by allowing the use of up to 3 multi-well microtiter plates, 120 16-mm tubes or 15-ml tubes, 52 30-mm tubes or 50-ml tubes, 100 ml vessels, and high-pressure 0.5-3 L round bottom flasks. The MARS-S workstation can control both temperature and pressure up to 1500psi (100 bar), individual reaction vessel stirring. For more information on the MARS-S microwave synthesis workstation click here.
For focus synthesis applications CEM offers its Discover™ system. This synthesizer is a stand-alone synthesis with a small footprint, and allows the use of -mL up to 125-ml reaction vessels for reactions done at atmospheric pressures, and the use of septum-sealed 10-ml vials for high-pressure reaction conditions (up to 25 bar). The Discover™ system also controls reaction temperatures, pressures, and stirring speeds. For more information on the Discover™ system click here.

Explorer PLS™

To expedite focus synthesis CEM also offers the automated version of the Discover™ system: Explorer PLS™ workstation system. This system accommodates up to 4 autosampler racks each rack holding up to 6 reaction vessels for a throughout of 24 sequential reactions per cycle, and it provides the same capabilities found in the Discover™ system.

For higher throughput synthesis CEM also offers its Navigator™ workstation. This workstation incorporates an XYZ liquid handling system capable of handling up to 8 different solvents, and automated weighing station, and a capping/de-capping station. The Navigator™ workstation can also accommodate multiple Discover™ systems, several 96-position interchangeable racks, and it can interface with analytical systems (i.e., HPLC, SPE, Flash chromatography, Raman, etc.).

Odyssey™ Synthesizer

For peptide synthesis CEM also has available the Odyssey™ Microwave Peptide Synthesizer.

This system, also based on CEM's Discover™ system, can accommodate 10 to 100 mL reaction vessels and up to 25 amino acid reservoirs with a throughput of up to 12 peptides per cycle.

For scale-up applications CEM has the Voyager™ system. This system, also based on the Discover™ system, can accommodate a 10-mL up to 80-mL reaction vessel to carry out reactions at atmospheric pressure up to 200°C or pressures up to 200 psi. CEM also provides 2 different modules for the Voyager™ system: the VoyagerCF Continuous Flow module for solution phase chemistries and the VoyagerSF Stop Flow module for chemistries that require the use of solid reagents, highly viscous materials, or are expected to produce insoluble products.

Investigator™ system

To help monitoring and optimizing microwave reactions CEM also offers the Investigator™ system.

This system is a Raman-based detector with a small footprint that works with the Discover™ system allowing real-time reaction monitoring for reaction development and optimization
