INTEGRA
Holdings AG has announced the successful completion of the reorganisation
of its INTEGRA Biosciences AG business.
This
announcement is subsequent to the statement in December 2002, that
the board of directors had decided for INTEGRA Biosciences AG to
focus upon its core competences in the development, production and
marketing of tools and instruments for daily routine lab tasks in
life sciences laboratories.
INTEGRA
Biosciences have achieved, within a tight timescale, a series of
notable changes enabling the business to move strongly forward in
the first seven months of 2003.
Only
two months after the formal decision and announcement of the corporate
reorganisation the R&D, production and marketing / sales departments
were successfully integrated into INTEGRA Biosciences' facility
in Chur, Switzerland.
Following
the strategy of focusing and strengthening its lab instruments business,
INTEGRA Biosciences' former subsidiaries in Germany, France, Switzerland
and the USA all became independent and have successfully started
to operate under new ownership. The German and French companies
have continued to operate under the name of INTEGRA Biosciences.
In Switzerland and the US the distribution activities have been
taken over by Vitaris AG and Argos Technologies Inc. respectively.
In the UK all distribution activities have been successfully transferred
to Scientific Laboratory Supplies. All these major territories have
reported a positive development of sales in the first half of 2003
reflecting their ability to fully concentrate efforts on distribution
to end users.
Following
the successful integration of the sample storage sales and marketing
department into its operation in Lelystad, Netherlands, INTEGRA
Biosciences' announced at the end of June 2003 that the majority
of the shares of Micronic BV had been subject to a management buy
out. Micronic is continuing to distribute and serve INTEGRA Biosciences
products in the Netherlands.
On
the occasion of ACHEMA 2003 in May 2003, INTEGRA Biosciences presented
their first new products in their liquid handling range since the
announcement of their reorganisation in December. The introduction
of the PIPETBOY comfort - a lightweight serological pipette and
the VACUSAFE comfort - an aspiration system for the safe and comfortable
removal of critical fluids in the laboratories. With these new products
INTEGRA Biosciences is well positioned to strengthen its already
strong market position in this market segment. Other new products
are scheduled for launch before the year-end.
With
the completed structural changes as well as the consequent concentration
on the development, production and marketing of laboratory tools
and instruments for the daily routine lab tasks, INTEGRA Biosciences
AG is well positioned for growth in the global life science markets.
