FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January,
2003
RiboTargets'
exclusive licence with ASINEX extended.
Cambridge
UK, January, 2003 - RiboTargets, the structure-based drug discovery
company that develops novel cancer and anti-bacterial therapeutics,
announced today that it has extended its exclusive license with
ASINEX for a further three years.
RiboTargets initially entered into a collaboration with ASINEX in
mid-2001, giving the company exclusive access to a collection of
~1.75 million compound structures as well as to ASINEX's Express
Platinum and Gold collections. Since then, RiboTargets has used
its proprietary docking software rDock to identify compounds that
have subsequently been provided by ASINEX and experimentally verified
as hits by RiboTargets.
Dmitry Genis, Director of ASINEX, commented: "We're delighted
to share in the success that RiboTargets has had with our compounds.
The relationship we've developed with them has been extremely fruitful
for both of us and we look forward to it continuing".
David Knowles, RiboTargets' CSO, added: "The ability to access
such a wide range of chemical structures from ASINEX in our virtual
screening programmes has been an important aspect of this collaboration.
Furthermore, the skill of ASINEX's synthetic chemists has been instrumental
in being able to expand the initial hits, generating vital SAR to
help guide subsequent progress. The relationship demonstrates the
benefits of two commercial companies combining their respective
skills to mutual benefit."

These therapeutic areas represent significant market opportunities.
The Company has created and validated a proprietary structure-based
drug discovery engine that allows the rapid identification and optimisation
of drug candidates against both protein and nucleic acid targets
using high throughput computer-aided and experimental drug design.
Over the last four years, RiboTargets has made the transition from
a technology platform company into a competitive drug discovery
company. RiboTargets' goal for 2002 is to make the pivotal step
from research into formal drug development. In the longer term,
RiboTargets aims to become a significant player in the anti-bacterial
and anti-cancer markets.

of Moscow is a full-service chemistry provider of 'Intelligent Chemistry`
for the lead generation and optimization stage of drug discovery.
Well known as a supplier of diverse small molecule libraries for
screening, and building blocks for combi-chem. ASINEX has developed
a reputation for cost-effective and efficient lead optimization,
custom synthesis and focused library generation.
ASINEX's In-house generated Platinum collection now contains more
than 100,000 compounds. Combinatorial Constructor is based on Platinum
templates, it is a 'well-validated' real/virtual collection of 1,200,000
structures. Advanced targeted GPCR, Kinase and Ion-Channel libraries
are the most recently launched products. They were generated using
the expertise of ASINEX's computational, chemical and bio-screening
facilities.
