A
new technical note from ESA describes how the company has applied
its unique products and expertise in bioanalytical detection to
provide the tools to easily and quickly test early stage drug discovery
compounds for their oxidative stability.
A
key parameter for the use of any compound as a drug is that of its
inherent chemical stability. This stability can include everything
from a measurement of a compound's stability under oxidative conditions,
to the testing of a compound under artificial "forced degradation"
conditions.
The
new technical note illustrates how ESA coulometric array systems
can provide researchers with a path to quickly eliminate "problem"
compounds with undesirable stability characteristics. The uniquely
sensitive and selective coulometric array technology can provide
researchers with important new information in regards to a compound's
expected degradation pattern and predicted breakdown products by
evaluating the stability of virtually any compound to oxidative
degradation Simple-to operate and control the CoulArrayâ detector
from ESA readily integrates with any HPLC or Bioanalytical MS system.
With picogram levels of sensitivity the CoulArrayâ detector
requires a minimal amount of compound for operation.
In
today's biophysical characterisation laboratory the ability to make
rapid decisions about a compound is paramount. To this end, the
ESA CoulArray® detector is capable of fast and accurate predictions
of a compound's oxidation patterns, the production of degradation
products and identification of "susceptible" molecules
or functional groups in respect to oxidative metabolism.
