launch for new disposable flask-bioreactor ..
INTEGRA
Biosciences, specialists in cell cultivation equipment, have chosen
three important international meetings to launch the CELLine adhere,
a novel disposable flask-bioreactor for long-term, high level protein
expression from adherent cells.

Over
the next month cell biologists visiting the 43rd American Society
for Cell Biology (booth 1944),International Biotech 2003 (stand
B500) and the 33rd Japanese Society of Immunology meeting (booths
82/83) will have the chance to see, review application posters and
hear an introductory talk on the new product.
Optimised
for protein expression from adherent cells the CELLine adhere incorporates
a woven polyethylene teraphthalate (PET) matrix in the cell compartment
to provides an ideal surface for attachment of anchorage dependent
cells as for example HEK, BHK and CHO.
Designed
for ease-of-use the CELLine adhere utilises novel membrane technology
to separate off the cultivation chamber with an upper semi-permeable
membrane through which nutrient can diffuse and a lower one that
allows gases to diffuse. Separate ports allow selective access to
the upper nutrient supply chamber and the central cultivation chamber.
This compartmentalised arrangement means that medium can be exchanged
without influencing the function or growth of the cells.With achievable
cell densities of between 107 and 108 cells per millilitre, CELLine
adhere provides cell concentrations typically two orders of magnitude
higher than conventional static cell culture techniques. Benefiting
from these high cell densities, product concentrations achievable
in CELLine adhere are several milligrams per millilitre making the
bioreactor highly suitable for protein expression in transfected
cell lines even over extended periods of time.
