Evaporation from microplates and microplate sample formats can be extremely slow. Their design makes it difficult to transfer enough heat for rapid evaporation, especially with slow drying solvents such as water or DMSO. Genevac heat transfer plates overcome this problem. Each transfer plate acts as a snugly fitting insert beneath the plastic microplate facilitating efficient thermal energy transfer from the hot outer surface of the Genevac sample holder directly to the walls of the microplate. This tight fit ensures maximum heat transfer into the samples for very rapid evaporation rates without the risk of overheating fast drying samples. By
specifying an evaporator with high power lamps, overall drying times
for aqueous samples can be cut to just one fifth of that required
without heat transfer plates. Available for microplates from manufacturers including Axygen, Greiner, Nunc, Whatman, Beckman, Corning Costar, Micronic, Polyfiltronics, MultiChem, Matrix, and ABGene these low cost tools have been found to markedly increase laboratory productivity.
