Guava
Technologies Inc., has announced the appointment of David A. King,
Ph.D., to the position of vice president, Product Development. Dr.
King was previously head of New Product Development and Product
Integration, reporting to the CEO, of iolon a privately-held venture-backed
San Jose, California-based manufacturer of tunable optical components.
"David
has an impressive track record generating ideas for optically-based
systems in both Life Sciences and Telecommunications, and driving
these ideas through technology development, product design, prototyping
and manufacturing," said Rajen Dalal, president and CEO of
Guava Technologies. "He has the ability to build and lead interdisciplinary
teams and focus them quickly to commercialise cost effective products."
Prior
to joining iolon, Dr. King was principle engineer at Palo Alto,
California-based Agilent Technologies where he developed in-vitro
diagnostic testing instrument systems for use in clinical settings.
Previously he was a key member of the technical staff at Hewlett
Packard where he worked on medical devices and nucleic acid array
technologies.
"Guava
is combining new micro-fluidic, optical, software, and fluorescent
technologies to develop products that simplify cellular analysis,"
said Dr. King. "I am excited to join a team that has a strong
track record for delivering solutions that enable our customers
to be more productive. The value Guava adds for customers will have
a significant impact in both the life sciences and clinical markets
world-wide."
Dr.
King received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford
University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He has authored 20
patents and published 15 papers in physics, physical chemistry,
and life science.
Guava
