from Tecan (Europe) the Ultra Evolution is an advanced multi-functional
microplate detection system offering the highest levels of detection
performance without compromising operational flexibility.
The
Ultra Evolution is Tecan's latest development on the Ultra instrument
platform. A suite of useful features are available as user definable
options adding to flexibility of use as well as providing no compromise
upgrade paths should your needs change in the future. The versatile
multifunctional instrument provides leading edge performance for
Fluorescence Lifetime, Fluorescence Intensity (UV and VIS range);
Time "gated" fluorescence and Fluorescence polarisation
measurements as well as sensitive Glow type luminescence and Absorbance
(UV and VIS range) detection. The Ultra Evolution is the perfect
microplate detection system for a wide range of applications that
may be performed in diverse settings including Assay development
groups, Therapeutic groups, High throughput screening facilities,
Secondary and confirmatory screening groups and Contract research/screening
companies.

New
instrument highlights include Fluorescence Lifetime measurement
in microplates in the nanosecond time domain. Tecan has added state-of-the-art
laser technology to the optical pathways, providing the user with
a unique instrument for assay development. The new fluorescence
lifetime option even offers the user the choice of two different
laser wavelengths (Red at 635nm and Blue at 440nm). Tecan has additionally
added a further optical feature that extends the flexibility of
the Ultra Evolution. The true bottom reading option retains the
user-friendly function of "z" axis optimisation.
Building
on the Ultra's unrivalled performance in luminescence mode, Tecan
has added specific additional interference filters to the luminescence
optics, to permit bioluminescence resonance energy transfer based
assays. With more enzyme-based assays being used in drug development,
tighter control on the temperature in the reading chamber is required.
Tecan has now implemented a thermostatically controlled chamber,
which makes better use of the internal temperature of the reader
and also improves the removal of excess heat.
For
fast, reliable plate processing the Ultra Evolution may be seamlessly
configured with a Connect stacker system or integrated into the
Tecan Freedom Evo Workstation for a higher throughput solution to
your automation needs.
