Perfect Protein Arrays Genetix has announced the launch of its Protein Array Platform a new system that uniquely offers a complete solution for the printing of high quality protein arrays. Proteome analysis is very complex due to the relationship between the large numbers of proteins expressed by bacterial, plant and mammalian genomes. Protein arrays enable researchers to quantify and analyse expression levels of a large number of proteins in parallel.
The new platform brings together a tried and tested combination of instruments, reagents and consumables to ensure accurate and reliable printing of proteins, peptides and antibodies. Using the compact QArraymini microarray spotter and 300 µm tungsten solid tip aQu spotting pins protein samples are diluted and spotted in Protein Array Spotting Solution onto epoxy coated slides. For optimal protein integrity and spot quality the QArraymini incorporates a cooled source plate holder and humidity control. The spotted slides are then processed using the Protein Array Processing Kit that removes any non-bound proteins and blocks non-specific binding. Following hybridisation of the microarray slides with a fluorescently labelled probe, a slide may be scanned and the data analysed on the Platform's aQuire confocal laser scanner. Also provided as part of the Protein Array Platform are specially developed V well profile 384 well microarray sample plates manufactured from high quality polypropylene to minimise protein binding and aid sample recovery.
