SciTegic®
announces the expansion of Pipeline Pilot deployment to 6
AstraZeneca sites.
SAN
DIEGO, CA, March 2, 2004 – SciTegic® today announced the expansion
of Pipeline Pilot deployment at AstraZeneca from a single
site first licensed in 2002, to a global license for multiple sites
around the world. AstraZeneca is using Pipeline Pilot in cheminformatics
primarily for enumeration of chemical libraries and compound profiling.
AstraZeneca has created custom computational protocols tailored
to its specific needs. By exposing the newly assembled functions
through a standard web browser, they are able to increase the number
of users and enhance the impact of computing on drug discovery.
“Pipeline
Pilot has become increasingly valuable to us in a number of ways.
We use it for "disposable" applications that we can create
quickly for one or two people to address any immediate discovery-related
issues. In many cases, we’ve found it to be faster and simpler than
writing custom scripts and easier for scientists to understand,”
said Rich Lawson, Ph.D., Global Director of IS Strategic Capabilities
for Leads within AstraZeneca. “We’ve also found it very valuable
for building more industrial strength applications that our scientists
use daily in production at our sites all around the world. The scientific
components and the technical framework have proven to be solid,
and we’ve been impressed by the responsiveness and high-quality
support of SciTegic staff.”
"AstraZeneca
has been one of our most collaborative and supportive customers,"
said Dr. Mathew Hahn, CEO of SciTegic. "Their production use
of Pipeline Pilot on a global scale has been a significant driver
of the new enterprise capabilities we have built into the forthcoming
version 4 of the software."
