Dr. de Feo was previously associate director, Genomics Collaborations at Affymetrix Inc., in Santa Clara, California. "Gianfranco de Feo's experience in customer support, management of collaborations and his strong commercialisation background make him an ideal choice for our rapidly growing businesses in both the Life Science and Clinical markets," said David Ferrick, vice president for Biology and Clinical Applications at Guava Technologies. "He will enable us to meet the challenges and opportunities of an increasing customer base and an expanding product portfolio while maintaining our excellent track record of customer satisfaction. During his tenure at Affymetrix, Dr. de Feo successfully initiated a program to leverage the company's large customer base by conceiving and building a worldwide department for Genomics Collaborations. This group worked closely with the global commercial team to coordinate technology access support and strategic external collaborations. This approach resulted in over 30 productive collaborations that led to numerous product improvements and increased customer satisfaction. Before joining Affymetrix, Dr. de Feo held the position of field application specialist at Perkin Elmer/ Applied Biosystems. He received his Ph.D. in the field of neuronal and embryonic development from the University of California, Los Angeles.
