A
new version of the popular HT-12 Series II system from Genevac (www.genevac.com)
has been introduced to provide laboratories with a highly efficient
and safe means of routinely removing strongly acidic chemicals from
their samples. The HT-12 HCl system enables chemists to evaporate
high concentrations of HCl, achieving cleaner synthesis and de-protection
than using other acids, such as trifluoroacetic acid.

The
innovative design of the HT-12 HCl system presents real advantages
for all chemists faced with removing both regular solvents and strongly
acidic chemicals. The HT-12 HCl uses inert and corrosion proof materials
to enable high concentrations of hydrochloric acid and other acid
chlorides to be removed without any loss of performance or long-term
deterioration in the system. These include a PTFE coated evaporation
chamber, a glass condenser with FEP tubing and all metallic parts
coming into contact with removed solvent manufactured from highly
durable and acid resistant Hasteloy C2000 steel. In addition the
system is configured with Genevac's high performance scroll pump.
The main advantage of this reliable pump technology is that it does
not require any pumping fluid or lubricant in order to operate.
This makes the new HT-12 HCl system ideal for use in harsh chemistry
environments where corrosive or volatile solvents are frequently
used.
The
HT-12's high performance and high sample capacities make it an ideal
workhorse for applications including combinatorial chemistry, parallel
synthesis, LC/MS purification, compound purification, plate re-formatting,
and plate replication that require high throughput evaporation.
The unique design of the multi layer rotor ensures efficient use
of valuable laboratory bench space as well as providing high performance
and efficient evaporation.
The
HT-12 system accommodates a wide range of sample formats. The strong
rotors are housed in a cast aluminium vacuum chamber, protected
from attack by corrosive vapours by a reinforced perfluorinated
coating. The rotors incorporate 12 "sample swings" to
accommodate Genevac sample holders for tubes & vials, microtitre
plates and custom sample formats.
Proprietary
control software allows the HT-12 to automatically detect when the
samples are dry and then shut it down - safeguarding valuable samples
from potential thermal degradation. The 'auto stop when dry' function
allows easy unattended operation offering the possibility of significant
increases in productivity through use of overnight evaporation runs.
