For
laboratories looking to safely and efficiently concentrate samples
in 96- and/or 384-well microplates a range of affordable and high-speed
evaporator systems is available from Porvair
Sciences Ltd.

For
R&D laboratories whose main need is to dry individual plates
the budget priced MiniVap™ represents the state-of-the-art in 96-well
microplate sample evaporator units. Compact in design, the affordable
MiniVap takes just minutes to dry down a plate, replacing traditional
techniques that typically take hours to remove solvents from a 96-well
microplate. The MiniVap is simple to operate and maintain. Installation
just requires connection to a gas supply and standard mains socket.
Safety of operation is ensured as the CE marked compact unit fits
into all fume cupboards. The versatile MiniVap has been designed
to accommodate both shallow and deep 96-well microplates.
Where
laboratories require the flexibility of concentrating samples in
both 96 and 384-well microplates the Ultravap™ is the system of
choice. Targeted to remove the traditional laboratory bottleneck
of solvent evaporation from 96- or 384-well microplates prior to
analysis or reconstitution in buffer, the Ultravap provides the
edge to laboratories looking to optimise microplate sample preparation
productivity. Significant increases in sample throughput are achieved
through advanced evaporator head technology and an innovative manifold
design, which directly injects heated nitrogen into each individual
well of the microplate simultaneously. The system is proven to remove
even the most stubborn solvents in just minutes. For heat sensitive
and thermally labile samples the Ultravap may be operated in a unique
two-stage mode combining rapid initial dry-down with carefully controlled
final solvent evaporation. Onboard software permits nine different
drying programmes to be retained in the memory eliminating the need
for skilled operators to set-up the system when changing from one
experiment to another. An RS232 interface allows remote control
via a PC and specialised software. The ability to upload and download
methods allows the Ultravap to be fully integrated into robotic
automation systems.
