FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September
29, 2006.
Micro
& Nanotechnologies become inescapable for innovation and Life
Sciences development
Yole
Developpement, a market research and business development consulting
company, specialized in microtechnologies, takes advantage of the
EuroBIO 2006 event to launch two contributions of significant interest
for all companies interested in nanotechnologies and micro-systems
applied to Life Sciences:
· The LifeScienceIC report presenting stakes for microelectronics
in Life Sciences.
· The Business Convention Innovation Dating "When Micro
& Nanotechnologies meet Life Sciences Industry", on Friday
October 27th.
Just following the release of its annual report LifeScienceIC on
the state-of-the-art of microelectronics for the Life Sciences industry,
Yole is launching Innovation Dating "When Micro & Nanotechnologies
meet Life Sciences Industry", the first business convention
aiming at facilitating the meeting of scientist and business developers
from both worlds of microtechnologies and Life Sciences. This business
convention will held in conjunction with EuroBIO 2006, in Paris
on Friday October 27th, at Hotel Concorde Lafayette.
Successes of Agilent, Affymetrix, Boehringer Ingelheim described
in the LifeScienceIC report show that a significant part of tomorrow's
therapeutic innovation will be based on micro and nano-systems.
On
Friday October 27th, during a one day business convention, Yole
Développement and its partners (Epigem, TRONICS Microsystems,
LioniX and TNO) aim at helping Life Science company managers to:
· Measure the technological and economical potential of Micro
& Nanotechnologies (MNT) and their maturity
· Understand technological stakes and most frequently encountered
implementation difficulties by studying best practices of companies
active in this field
· Exchange with MEMS and microdevices company managers to
evaluate the way to cover to optimize a collaboration based on a
common language.
For
Jean Christophe Eloy, Managing Director of Yole Développement
and Founder of the company in 1998, " We confirmed, in mid-July,
during SEMICON event held in San Francisco, the broad diffusion
of MEMS component in consumer and automotive applications, and the
reciprocal learning phase where MNT and Life Science players are.
It is thus right time to have the different worlds to exchange their
view and to meet in Paris during a large Life Sciences event as
EuroBIO".
Having noticed that there are still vocabulary and mutual understanding
issues, the LifeScienceIC report is voluntarily educational and
designed for MEMS and semiconductor managers. As symmetry, we dedicate
the business convention Innovation Dating "When Micro &
Nanotechnologies meet Life Sciences Industry" to pharmaceutical,
diagnostic, instrumentation and medical device field players wishing
to know the status of biosensors, nanodispensers, lab-on-chips and
other microfluidic components.
According
to Géraldine Andrieux-Gustin, MNT Project Manager at Yole
Développement "We feel as thoroughly playing our facilitating
role in creating most strong bridges as possible between these two
worlds"
