A. Morales, Ph.D.:
Dr.
Morales received his BS in Industrial Chemistry from U.A.N.L.
in Monterrey, Mexico, in 1989. Then he went to LSU
where he received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in the Spring of
1995 under the direction of Dr.
Mark L. McLaughlin. Dr. Morales then immediately went
to PostDoc in the area of Combinatorial Chemistry at DuPont-Merck
Pharmaceuticals (formerly DuPont-Pharmaceuticals Company, now Bristol-Myers
Squibb) under the direction of Dr.
William F. DeGrado. Then in 1997 Dr. Morales joined Guilford
Pharmaceuticals (now MGI
Pharma) where he played a key role in setting up their
combinatorial chemistry program. In August 2000 Dr. Morales joined
Dr.
Barry A. Bunin
to co-found Libraria
Inc. (formerly Sertanty Inc. and now Eidogen-Sertanty).
In March 2003 Dr. Morales began his consulting career in drug discovery,
medicinal chemistry, combinatorial/parallel synthesis, and cheminformatics.
In August 2004 Dr. Morales joined Telik
Inc. to ramp up the parallel medicinal chemistry efforts.
In March of 2007 Dr. Morales joined Semafore
Pharmaceuticals Inc. as Director of Chemistry to head
chemistry efforts in the areas of PI3K, PTEN and p53 for cancer
research.
As
of June 2007, Dr. Morales is the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific
journal Molecular
Diversity.
Current
Status: Director of Chemistry
at Semafore Pharmaceuticals Inc.
and drug discovery consultant.
This
website is Dr. Morales' attempt to assist the scientific community
